ELEY Metrology is already renowned for being the manufacturer of the first and most successful British digital height gauge, the MICRO VERTEX.

We are now proud to launch a new concept in height gauges, the VMS (Vertical Measuring System). The VERTEX VMS 800 is a patented design, which brings new levels of accuracy and reliability to 2D dimensional measurement.

In brief, the main distinguishing feature of the VERTEX 800 is that it is driven completely by air bearings. This non-contact drive mechanism leads to better repeatability and minimal wear and tear, unlike conventional bearings.

With a frictionless counter balance and unique triangular spindle there are great benefits for accuracy and stability. Perpendicularity is second to none, without the use of ‘error correction’ typical of conventional height gauges.

For lower maintenance costs there is the new ‘spherical clamping system’ at the bottom and a spherical ‘expansion bearing’ at the top. The end result is a stress free, floating column, adjusted from the top for easy maintenance.

The new VERTEX incorporates many useful features as standard equipment. For example: a built in ‘safety first’ air cushion and ‘blue tooth’ connection for connecting to a printer. Constant probing force, collision protection, a frictionless magnetic drive system, and a positive pneumatic carriage lock all add to the list of features.

It has a built in battery pack for at least 8 hours of normal use, and is delivered with a UKAS certificate of accuracy. The new ‘panel’ is an LCD screen with ‘soft keys’, making it wipeable for shop floor situations. Furthermore the air bearings on the base are so accurate they can measure ‘air on’, reducing wear to the granite table. Completing the range of features is a pair of ‘trimming weights’ on the carriage for balancing heavy probes.

The new VERTEX can truly utilise the full height of the column by using it’s dual probe holder, because the probe is held by a 360 degree circular clamping force, with a unique probe ‘timing’ system. Thus the customer can use the 800mm measuring range in the same cycle.

Note:

The old Micro Vertex is still supported, with on-site service and calibration, and repairs at base (subject to parts availability), we are also interested in purchasing old gauges that are surplus to requirements.

After two years of intensive development the long awaited successor to the immensely successful Micro-Vertex Height Gauge is released.

First shown as the pre-production model at the MACH 2008 show in April, the VMS800 is expected to reach the very top of the market.

The VMS800 (Vertical Measuring System) ticks all the boxes and is supported by five patent applications and many other unique features: -
