Eley Metrology Limited launch ground breaking new measuring concept for the precision measurement of long bores. The LBM series.

Eley Metrology have released details of their latest CNC CMM. Designed to offer precision measurement down long deep bores.

The first installation has been successfully completed with a very large midlands based jet engine manufacturer.

The LBM range is designed to offer precision dimensional measurement of diameters and features inside long deep bores or confined access spaces up to and greater than 2000 millimeters in depth.

Applications are specific to precision line-bored manufactured items for example, aerospace engine shafts, undercarriage assemblies, oil exploration and nuclear industry components.

The groundbreaking LBM offers capability hitherto unavailable with conventional CNC CMM’s and creates new boundaries of measuring excellence.

Employing completely new technology combined with powerful 32 bit graphical software, the LBM is unique (patented).

An extended arm is incorporated into a machine tool construction that guides the movements of each axis to extreme degrees of accuracy and performance.

A second probing system is available at the “primary” Z spindle offering conventional external CMM measurement.

This combined with the internal measuring facility is able to translate “wall thickness” measurement for example.

Touch sensitive probes combine with Renishaw’s latest machine controller to provide the LBM’s fine positioning system.

The LBM resolves to .0005 millimeters or .00002 inches.

UKAS Certification and performance verification is in accordance with ISO 10360.

Turnkey solutions including multipurpose fixturing are offered for the efficient work holding and location of components.

Supplementary traceable verification artefacts are available to combine with the Standard ISO 10360 certification.

With the LBM CMM internal and external measurements combine to offer important facilities such as wall thickness and associated feature measurements.
